2018 Ethics in Business Award
This year Woody’s is celebrating our 25th year anniversary. In the restaurant business, that’s almost unheard of! We attribute our success and longevity here in Golden based on our philosophy of being “more than just great pizza.” Yes that means a diversity of menu items, but it also means that we should give back to our community, be stewards of the environment, and treat or staff and customers like family.
At the Golden Rotary Club Luncheon, emcee Ed Green read the statement prepared by the School of Mines Ethics class who was responsible for choosing the winner. They highlighted a few of our programs such as our food waste composting program that diverts nearly 10,000 pounds of food waste per month from the landfill as well as our ongoing donations of proceeds from our Golden Backpack Pizza to the Golden Backpack Program that helps feed local kids. Congressman Ed Perlmutter even entered us into the congressional record as “an example of how a for profit company benefits its community through a variety of ways with more than just the products they sell.”
But the moral of the story isn’t really about us as a business, it is about the loyal customers who have supported these programs for 25 years in choosing to dine at a locally owned and operated establishment. We are grateful to the community for this award!
